Our Damascus Steel Blades contain High and Low Carbon Steel, which means they have a relatively low amount of chromium in the steel.  Carbon Steel Damascus can rust when not cared for properly.

Always clean and dry your blade after use, and coat with mineral or coconut oil to prevent rust before storage.

When not in use, keep your Damascus Steel knife in a dry environment and protect it from extreme moisture or temperature changes.

Do not store you knife for extended periods in the sheath.  Acids and chemicals used to tan leather can lead to oxidation over time due to the normal moisture found in the air.

Extreme low humidity is a hazard for any of the natural handle materials (walnut wood, camel bone, buffalo horn, rams’ horn, stag horn etc..) and will potentially cause cracking or separation.  Humidity does not affect the synthetic handle materials.

By taking good care of your Damascus Steel Knife, your knife will last longer and maintain its unique beauty!
